Esporting works regularly with under-18s in education and community settings. Safeguarding is a non-negotiable part of how we operate.
1.Our commitment
- Every child, young person and adult at risk has the right to be safe and respected.
- Safeguarding is the responsibility of every member of the team.
- Concerns are always taken seriously, recorded and acted upon.
- We work in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023) and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
2.Designated Safeguarding Lead
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is [Name, role], contactable at safeguarding@esporting.co.uk / [phone number]. A Deputy DSL is appointed for every event.
3.Staff checks & training
- All staff working unsupervised with under-18s hold an in-date DBS check.
- All staff complete safeguarding induction and refresher training annually.
- References and right-to-work checks are taken before deployment.
- Freelancers are contractually bound to this policy.
4.Supervision & ratios
Adult-to-young-person ratios are set per event in our RAMS, never falling below statutory or venue requirements. Two-adult cover is maintained wherever practical.
5.Reporting concerns
Any concern is escalated immediately to the DSL using our Incident Reporting Process. Where a child is at immediate risk we contact emergency services and the relevant Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).
6.Online safeguarding
For online events and community spaces, see our Online Conduct Policy and Streaming Moderation Policy.
7.Review
This policy is reviewed annually or sooner following any significant incident or change in legislation.
